CREWE, Va – Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) recently hosted a ribbon-cutting event to commemorate the opening of its new facility in Altavista.
The ceremony featured an invocation by Pastor Stedman Payne of Abundant Life Ministries and the presentation of colors and the pledge of allegiance by the Altavista American Legion Post 36 Honor Guard. SEC Board of Directors Chairman Dr. Frank Bacon and SEC President & CEO Jeff Edwards remarked that the new facility raises the level of member service.
Built in 1953, the original Altavista office served members in the western portion of SEC’s service territory for 64 years. With the opening of the new facility, only a quarter of a mile from the former office, SEC’s ability to offer safe, reliable electricity and faster outage response times to its members is significantly enhanced. The new office offers improved lobby space, a 24/7 payment kiosk and safer road access.
Following the ceremony, attendees toured the facility and concluded with lunch.
Southside Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit, member-owned electric cooperative that serves over 55,000 homes and businesses in portions of 18 counties in central and southern Virginia.
