Southside Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Crewe, Virginia, is a member-owned rural electric utility which provides electric services to more than 45,000 members in portions of Amelia, Appomattox, Bedford, Brunswick, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte,Chesterfield, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Pittsylvania, Powhatan, Prince Edward, Prince George and Sussex counties, the towns of Altavista, Hurt, Crewe, Blackstone, Kenbridge and South Hill, and the city of Petersburg.

The Cooperative has four district offices and its service territory spans approximately 180 miles from the City of Petersburg to Bedford County (east to west), and 90 miles from Powhatan County to approximately 16 miles from the North Carolina line (north to south).

A completed Southside Electric Cooperative Application for Employment is required of everyone applying to our open position(s).

The forms provided are fillable forms and may include required fields; formatted fields such as telephone numbers; radio buttons; calendar date selection fields; signature fields; and submit buttons.

To ensure access to the fillable form as designed, complete the following steps exactly as written:

  1. From the website, click the link to open the employment application or other form available on the careers page;
  2. save the form to your computer with a unique name, i.e. LastName, FirstName SEC Application; LastName, FirstName SEC Vet; etc.
  3. close the form after you have saved it to your computer;
  4. re-open the form from the saved location on your computer

Step 3 and Step 4 are critical. If either step is omitted, the form will not open in the correct fillable format.

Before you begin completing the employment application form, confirm that there is a red outline around the field for Date, Position, Name, Address, Telephone, Email, and how you heard about the position on page 1. If you do not see the red outline indicating a required field, please repeat steps 1-4.

Tip: Be sure to save the application throughout the completion process so that you don’t lose the entered information. Please avoid “see resume`” as a response.

A signature is required on each application; however, it is not necessary to print and sign the application. Click on the signature box and follow the prompts to create a free digital ID. When the employment application is complete, click on the blue “SUBMIT APPLICATION” button. This may prompt you to select Outlook or Webmail (Gmail, Yahoo, aol, etc.) as your email tool. Once selected, your default email service will open with the application attached. If your email service does not create the new email with the application attached, please email the completed application and any additional forms or documents such as resume` and cover letter to

Tip: Open the attachment before sending the email to ensure that it is your completed version.

A Driver Application is only posted when it is required for a position. If there is no Driver Application posted, it is not required for the open position(s).

The Self-Identify forms are optional. The name field at the bottom of each Self-Identify page is to be printed, not signed. These forms are also fillable, therefore, please follow steps 1 through 4 as above in order to access the correct fillable version.
